Four generations
My Dad's dad, my grandpa, and Tayla's great grandpa came to visit us today from Idaho. We spent the day visiting a couple people I didn't know but enjoyed hearing their stories and my great Aunt Ruth who is 95 years young! She was amazing and so sweet. I can only hope that if I ever live to 95 (I don't think I want to) that I'm in that good of shape! She is my grandma's sister. My grandma died from cancer when I was about a year old. My grandpa later remarried and moved to Idaho so I really haven't ever got to spend much time with him or get to know him....until today. Today was also the first time I felt I really got to know my Grandma. I spent the night feeling very touched and somber thinking about my grandparents and their relationship. They had a perfect marriage and were obviously very much meant to be. Even now, 22 years later, remarried, my grandpa still tears up when he talks about my grandma and how much he misses her. I want that. I can only hope that I will. I don't think we all get so lucky, maybe it's a lack of patience, maybe there isn't a perfect someone for everyone, I don't know. I hope I get more opportunities with my grandpa like I did today. Thanks Grandpa, thanks for talking and opening up to us, thanks for taking the trip, thanks for spending the time, you gave me hope....
